India’s Top Agricultural Apps Leading the Way in 2024

The digital transformation in Indian agriculture is surging, fuelled by the demand for precision and real-time decision-making. With Android holding a dominant market share in the farming app sector, the impact of these tools is profound.

In this study, we analyzed 32 of the most popular farming-related Android apps in India, each boasting over 250,000 installs. By comparing their download numbers between 2023 and 2024, and conducting sentiment analysis on 1,200 user reviews per app, we uncovered valuable insights into the evolving agri-tech landscape.

From app rankings to user feedback, discover how these digital innovations are shaping the future of Indian agriculture.

The analysis revealed that total installs surged from 99 million in 2023 to 118 million in 2024, marking an impressive 19% growth. This growth reflects the increasing trust of Indian farmers in mobile-based platforms for improving their farming practices and livelihoods.
Leaders of the Digital Farming Ecosystem

Among these apps, Plantix has cemented its leadership position with 30.9 million installs in 2024, registering a robust 21% growth. Following closely, AgriCentral climbed to second place with 12.7 million installs, showcasing a 17% increase. Meanwhile, Krishify maintained its relevance but slipped to third, with 12.5 million users. Apps like Agrostar and Yara FarmCare held steady in fourth and fifth positions, respectively, demonstrating their established foothold in the market. Additional data

Insights from Ranking Movements

An analysis of app rankings reveals shifting user preferences. While Bayer's FarmRise made an impressive leap from 11th to 7th place, MP Kisan App and Syngenta's Cropwise Grower also climbed the rankings, reflecting growing farmer interest in their offerings. Conversely, apps like Krishi Network and AgriApp saw their positions slip, likely due to increasing competition and a dynamic market landscape. While some apps led in total installs, others stood out for their remarkable growth rates. IFFCO BAZAR topped the chart with a stunning 99% growth, followed by BigHaat at 95%. Bayer’s FarmRise grew by 66%, showcasing the rising demand for advanced agricultural insights. Kisan Konnect and MP Kisan apps also saw significant expansions, growing by 50% and 39%, respectively. User Sentiment Speaks Volumes

To understand the reception of these apps, sentiment analysis was conducted on user reviews (around 1,200 reviews per app). The results show that the majority of feedback is overwhelmingly positive. Agrostar emerged as the favorite, with 64% positive reviews, followed by Plantix (62%) and AgriCentral (60%). Krishify managed to minimize negative reviews (6%), reflecting its strong user retention strategy. However, Yara FarmCare had relatively fewer positive mentions (44%), indicating potential areas for improvement in user satisfaction.

The overall trend highlights the rapid adoption of digital farming solutions across India. Apps are no longer just tools; they have become integral to how farmers plan, manage, and optimize their resources.
